Alice in Wonderland Inspired

I always loved Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, but I didn’t realize how much I was missing until I read the book by Lewis Carroll. While the film is fun, and the music is entertaining, there are some really interesting features from the book that you don’t see on film.

Mainly, that there are real life lessons to be taken from madness.

Looking through some of the famous quotes taken from the book, Disney missed on the most important aspect of Alice: (1) we are always changing, (2) we must always think about what we say so that we say what we mean, (3) it’s okay to believe in the impossible.

‘I could tell you my adventures–beginning from this morning,’ said Alice a little timidly: ‘but it’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.’

But, even though they are different conceptually, they still carry the same icons. These same icons are the ones I decided to capture in a charm bracelet.

Of coarse we needed the white rabbit to pull it together, but I’d like to think my selection was based on what I found to be the most meaningful: the alarm clock, the tea pot, the rose, and the Ace cards. Nothing is the same metal because I wanted to maintain the mismatched, matching style.

I know it’s silly, but it makes me happy to look at it. Plus, it jangles happily when worn!
