Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is an ongoing way for you to gain attention from Search Providers like Google, Bing, or Yahoo. SEO uses complicated algorithms to index and search the content that you post.
First, what is indexing?
Indexing is where a Search Engine goes to your site or content and looks at each section until it has “indexed” what your site or content contains. This is where you need to take advantage of “optimizing.”
Use Keywords & Tags Anywhere You Can
While this doesn’t guarantee a #1 spot in the Search Results, it does give you an advantage over those who aren’t using it. Why? Because you have made it much easier for Search Engines to find you. This means it becomes easier for the public to find you.
You could have the greatest knowledge on the Planet, but if no one can find you, then that knowledge is equivalent to absolutely nothing.
What do I mean by “Anywhere You Can?”
Don’t limit yourself to just your Website. You can include keywords on pictures, videos, and other kinds of media. Don’t underestimate the power of details.
Keep Your Content Interesting & Easy to Access
If you have clicked on a link that led you to something that was hard to read (colors, format), that was covered in Ads (pop-ups or added load time), or that was just plain boring, I can guarantee that you didn’t stay long.
SEO Includes Total Visit Time
The less time that someone spends on your site, the more likely it is that you have done one of the above mentioned faux pas. The result is that the Search Engine will lower your standing in the Search Results.
This could be good or bad, depending on what you are trying to do.
Regardless, SEO is necessary for having a successful online presence, and I would suggest that you use it to your advantage.
